wedding dresses, May, y'all! I don't know what things

Happy, wedding dresses, May, y'all!  I don't know what things have been like in your neck of the woods, but down here in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, it's like we magically jumped from a dark and chilly winter to a hot, hot summer.  Not that I'm complaining or anything...

Another recent discovery: our readers love candy (almost) as much as I do, hence the eager voting on our recent Candy-Coated Bling Contest.  We narrowed down our submissions to our fave five, and y'all voted to pick our winner.

And what a close vote it was!  Julie Harmsen's cotton candy goodness, Abby's Demonic Bunnies and Dana Goodson's piece of chocolate heaven all were within one (yes, one) vote of each other!  So who came out on top?

Congratulaitions, Julie!  We love us some cotton candy - and diamonds.  Definitely diamonds.

I'll be sending you a bag full of my, V-Neck Bridesmaid Dresses, favorite sugary treats.  Email me with your address!  But hurry... I'm not sure how long I can hold onto this candy without dipping into it myself...

Thanks again to our entrants and to all our readers who voted.  Have a great week!

wedding dresses, jewelry contests

I <3 SW, wedding dresses, jewelry contests.  A lot.  Seriously, it takes a strong willpower (plus the occasional stern glace from Emily) to keep me from entering some of these contests and pocketing the prizes myself.

If you can believe it, I’m even more excited about today’s contest, not only because of the gorgeous gold + pearls earrings that are up for grabs but also because these gems were handmade by my former babysitter + school mate, Erin McDermott.  (Hi, Erin!)  Erin was one of my very favorite babysitters growing up (she’s smart, pretty and tons of fun, hence the girl I desperately wanted to BE when I was little), and I literally jumped for joy when I stumbled across her jewelry site.

True story: I’m so in love with the "Whitney" and "Lucky Penny" earrings she’s giving away to two readers that I’m hoping to use them for, Tea Length Flowergirl Dresses, my own bridesmaids come September.  (Erin’s a fellow bride-to-be and will be marrying her college sweetheart this April.  Congrats!)

Want to win a fabulous pair of Erin McDermott’s earrings yourself?  Visit her site here and find the piece (whether earring, necklace or bracelet) that best conveys your unique style.  And, oh yeah… don’t forget to tell us how + why by leaving a comment with your name and email address.

Snag a piece from this Southern belle's collection... I have a feeling she's going to be the next big thing!

Contest ends at 11:59 p.m. on Wednesday, Scoop Neckline Mother Dress, February 17.

wedding dress, to be quite the party, y'all!

It's going, wedding dress, to be quite the party, y'all!  But more than that, it's a chance to step out from behind social media and actually connect face-to-face with some of the people you (and we!) interact with on a daily basis.  So, as our friend Sarah Rhoads wrote on her blog, "come on out to the most killer party at WPPI, and let's dance our faces off!"  We couldn't agree more -- hope to see you, Spaghetti Straps Flowergirl Dresses, there!

Scoop Neckline Mother Dresses, details on Akil's blog!

And, weddings dresses, by engagement shoot, we literally mean a photo shoot wherein the couple gets engaged.  How's that for a Valentine's Day feature?  Even better?  It's a double feature -- check back soon for part two!

Several people were involved in making this proposal roll off without a hitch.  Kayla Marie Dunn of Exquisitely Dunn in Houston helped coordinate the details, the Hotel ZaZa was the location, Cakes by Gina provided the delicious-looking truffles, and the talented Akil Bennett captured the moment.  See more images from this proposal and more, Scoop Neckline Mother Dresses, details on Akil's blog!

wedding dress, I can't TELL you how hard it was to keep this little shoot

Okay, wedding dress, I can't TELL you how hard it was to keep this little shoot all to ourselves for so long!  Simply Bloom sent it wayyy back in November of last year, and as soon as I saw it, I knew it would be perfect for a love day feature.  Sweet, simple, rustic chic, and filled with emotion.  And -- bonus! -- the shoot took a surprising turn halfway through.  Read on to see what we mean...!

From the ladies of Simply Bloom...

"This was another experience altogether. As women, we could not help but tear up and even get a few butterflies in our stomachs as we watched this unfold.  William had thoroughly explained to us his plan to propose to Katie during the shoot, and when he mentioned it would be with a kite, there was some squealing going on on our end… Somehow, because it was meant to be, the entire afternoon progressed naturally and perfectly. Katie had no idea what her fate held, and yet everyone around her knew that this would be THE happiest day of her life. We had planned with William cues for us to know the thereabouts, Informal Bridal Dresses, of when he was going to go down on one knee. He explained he was going to tie the ring on the kite, which they would then fly, and then Katie would see the ring. As amazing as that plan sounded, there seemed to be too many little factors that could have not gone according to plan. Despite my doubts and crossed fingers, William pulled it ALL off PERFECTLY. The kite flew easily and swiftly in the perfect blue sky as they held the spool together; Katie ran the kite back and forth without noticing the ring until the very wonderful moment where William kneeled  down to ask her to be with him forever. Witnessing and CAPTURING such an amazing and meaningful moment in a person’s life, left both Christine and I feeling so FORTUNATE about what we do. What we noticed as outsiders, is that the combination of the wide open lush field, timing, reactions, and the perfect shades of the sunset– could not have been more magical.

William, you are the bravest man! Katie, you are so fortunate to have such a romantic man on your side forever– you two are beautiful. We have no words to thank you for letting us witness this moment."

Congratulations, Katie and William! Long Sleeve Mother Dress, We wish you an absolutely beautiful wedding day!
